While this ability doesn't make ghost types more prone to gravitating towards him, it does make him able to hear and understand them even when they don't want others to be able to do so. This knack makes a constant chatter in his head, a chatter that - with the help of his grandfather - he learned to be able to separate into individual conversations so he can communicate with ghost types more effectively.

BRIEF HISTORY
The only person to ever make Ransom feel like it was perfectly acceptable to hear voices was his Grandfather - Kenji Takahashi, the family elder and a man that Ransom both deeply loved and respected. To the rest of their family, well, the things they heard were nonsense of course. After all, who could hear the voices of ghosts - pokemon or otherwise? A crazy person, that was who. And if it weren't for Kenji's teachings, that's exactly what Ransom would have grown up thinking of himself (and sometimes still thought despite it). But Kenji knew better and did all that he could to teach his grandson better...to help him feel comfortable enough to not just accept the voices, but to be able to pick them apart and hear the different conversations going on so he could properly communicate with them, and finding that more often than not, they just wanted someone to listen. To understand them. Oh, Ransom couldn't ever see them - though his grandfather could - but he could always hear them.
When Kenji died unexpectedly , that was when life for the then seven-year-old Ransom became difficult - to put it mildly. His father, and elder brother had never really had patience for the shy, quiet boy that Ransom was - and that patience just disappeared as the obstacle of the sr. Takahashi was out of their way. What had once been minor verbal abuse soon turned ugly and began to veer more into the area of the physical as well as the verbal - abuse that Forsythe, the sableye that had once been part of his grandfather's team and had been left to Ransom specifically, took exception to. So much so that he made every effort to make the lives of the other humans in that household a living hell. A thing that unfortunately did not make Ransom's life any easier. In fact, it got so bad, that at age sixteen, he began to consider legal emancipation or other options from getting out of that admittedly attractive, but horrible house.
Thankfully though, such a thing became unnecessary as he received word of being accepted into a very prestigious school for aspiring trainers...though it was caution that had him waiting a good year and a half to finally think about going there. It was silly, but part of him was perhaps a bit afraid to find out that life wouldn't be much different at that school, even if it did take him out of his house. And of course, by the time he came to the conclusion he /should/ go to MA, Ransom thought it was likely too late - so imagine his surprise when he received yet another letter saying the invitation to become a student was still open. And since by that point, the situation at home had gotten to the point where he'd actually had to raise a hand against his father - a thing that went against so many of his beliefs - he decided it was better to get while the getting was good. Just like that, all ties were cut with his so-called family, the Japanese-American boy taking his Sableye with him as, quite simply, Forsythe was the only real family that Ransom felt he had left. He's been at the school for six months, and though he doesn't have a lot by way of money or things, he's certainly a lot happier. If he needs money, he helps out around the school - assisting in anyway he can just to earn what he might need for clothes or books.
PERSONALITY POINTS
- Resilient - Ransom might come across as the quiet and shy type, but there's a lot that he can take...and not be aversely affected by in the long term.
- Pacifistic - He's a peace-loving boy, very much against violence in all it's various forms. As such, he'll do what he can to avoid any physical or verbal confrontations that might come his way.
- Friendly - Sure he's a bit shy at first, but once you get him talking, you won't find a person more easy to talk to than he is. He's also unerringly sweet and kind, despite what may have happened to him in the past, even in the face of anger or irritation.
- Stubborn - If Ransom really sets his mind to something, then that's simply the way it will be and there's almost nothing that can be done to change his mind on the matter.
- Good Listener - Ransom is not a person that feels the need to talk all of the time, but he does always listen when someone needs him to.
- Easily Flustered - This boy is, unfortunately, a blusher - and since he's not used to the sorts of attention being placed on him that others might find common place (ie: flirting, being hit on, sexually suggestive), he can be quite easily flustered. He's not Mr. Suave. Sure, sometimes he can probably come across as quite charming...but it's entirely accidental.
- Generous - It doesn't matter who you are, whether you like him or not, if Ransom sees someone in trouble or in need of something that it's in his power to give...he will give it with no questions asked nor any thought of having anything done or given to him in return.
- Silly - When Ransom doesn't think anyone is watching him (as he can be quite self-conscious at times ), he can be something of a goofball. Singing to himself completely off-tune, dancing to whatever music might be playing in the earbuds he can often be found wearing - even though he really can't dance - or just generally entertaining himself.
- Solitary - It's not a choice for him, but Ransom is used to being his own best entertainment. He's used to being alone, and though he might not like it that doesn't make him any less alone than he generally is. Of course, he does welcome those who want to change that...it just seems like those sorts of people don't come along too often.
- Right vs. "Correct" - To Ransom, there is a very real distinction between what is right and what might be viewed as correct. Because of this, sometimes he does things that can occasionally seem off, or make him seem socially skewed in some way - but the fact is, Ransom's not going to do or say something just because other people think he should. In the end, he'll make the decision that feels good to him, regardless of what those others might think.

POKEMON INFO
Height: 1'8"
Weight: 25 lbs
Of average coloring for a pokemon of his breed, his skin is purple, and he sports large gem-like eyes, and finned ears. There's also a red gem at the center of his chest, and sharp pointy teeth that make him look more vicious than he actually is. Forsythe is a stern, reserved sableye - a pokemon that very much inherited a few personality traits from his very first trainer, Ransom's grandfather Kenji. He's patient, and wise...and seemingly introspective. Also, he is not prone to violence immediately, much like both his trainers - but unlike Ransom, he does not have an aversion to it when it's necessary. He can also become quite vengeful when a human or another pokemon upsets his Ransom to the point where it becomes obvious. Little hurts, he can let slide if Ransom can...but when those little hurts add up, that's when problems start. After all, much like Kenji had been, Forsythe is fiercely protective of his human.
