Trainer Gift
EMPATHETIC BOND
Blaine can sense what a pokemon is feeling - to the point where he can feel these emotions himself. With this ability, he can anticipate a pokemon's particular needs and wants with a greater level of accuracy, and therefore they tend to form bonds more easily with him because they - in turn - can sense Blaine's level of attunement.
The Pokemon
Slightly larger than most other Vulpixes, Loki is long and leanly built, with muscle that moves smoothly beneath his luxurious fur - reddish orange in color - and he has six fluffy tails, each tipped in a darker shade of that reddish orange. He also radiates heat from his body, and is always pleasantly warm to the touch.
Of all the pokemon on Blaine's team, Loki's been with him the longest - and it can be said that he even emulates some of his trainer's personality traits (though it's been argued that maybe it's the other way around). While not at work, Loki is in a constant state of 'play'...and though he enjoys the company of nearly /all/ pokemon - he does seem to have a particular fondness for Eevees. While at work, Loki is a dedicated team-mate, often working side by side with Pele to keep their other team-mates going.
Pele is smaller, and more delicate than her counterparts - her coat a rich, creamy silver with hints of pewter and a bit of blueish silver at the tips of some of her fur throughout her body, and hints of that same purplish-blue at the tips of all nine of her soft, fluffy tails. She has eyes that glow softly like the embers of a fire, and the fur around those eyes is a darker shade of that blue that still blends in nicely wit that silver fur. Like Loki, she too radiates heat, and is pleasantly warm to the touch.
Pele came to him as a young vulpix female shortly after Loki arrived - shy, timid...even then very much the epitome of a 'lady', despite the horrors she must have known with her former trainer. She was what Blaine would call a 'rescue' as he forcibly took her from a fellow entertainer travelling in the same circuits as his family when he witnessed the entertainer in question abusing her verbally and physically. Under Blaine's care, she evolved into her current state, and though she appears to be quite fierce, Pele still retains her quite lady-like demeanor. While not at work, she generally sticks close to Blaine and tries to keep the feisty vulpix from getting into too much trouble. While at work, Pele is disciplined, ever-attentive to her trainer, and above all, fiercely protective of the team as she feels responsible for all of Blaine's pokemon.
Veles is of average length but just a bit more solid in build, his long body meant not only for speed but also for doing damage. His colorations are typical of Serperiors, in shades of green and brown with hints of yellow - the vine-like end of his tail a bit darker than the rest of the greens found of him as well.
Veles is a bit more standoffish than Blaine's other pokemon - more prone to observing for a bit before joining in the fray. He tends to think before he acts , in all occasions , but above all he clearly trusts in what Blaine has to say or do. He's also very possessive of Blaine's other pokemon Ceres, and regards those that he does not know that approach her with great distrust. He's also very stern, and is typically the first pokemon to berate Loki for his antics - for all the good it does him. He, like Pele, was a rescue as well - from the same trainer, and because of this, he does obviously adore his trainer.
Hekili is larger than your average Zebstrika, but her colorations are quite typical of the breed.
The zebstrika is a sweet, motherly pokemon...one who seeks to groom those that she sees as her 'children', which happens to be most of the other pokemon in exisence. She's friendly, and mild-mannered up until the point that her trainer requires her attention. And then she reveals herself to be a creature of rigid discipline, playing whatever role her team requires of her.

A bit smaller, and resembling a large venus fly trap - Ceres is a lot fiercer-looking than she actually is. She has several long vine-like appendages that she uses to maneuver the ground, or pull an errant pokemon in for a cuddle, and though she's more prone to smiling, her mouth is capable of opening wide and snappng quickly shut.
True to his legendary bird status, Anemos is an enormous avian beast with plumage of icy blue shades and glittering ruby-red eyes. He is considerably larger than most of his species, which makes him a real powerhouse.
Anemos is a staid, relaxed individual - until it comes to the point where he feels that his trainer and friend is being threatened. He doesn't regard himself as 'below' Blaine or any of his team mates, but he knows his place and is smart enough to use that understanding liberally. He's also unerringly loyal to the kind human that offered him a home and protection among his team and family, and does not take to anyone that might treat Blaine or his team mates in a manner that he does not believe they deserve. Above all though, Anemos is a bit more wild than Blaine's other pokemon - his sheer size making it impossible for him to live domestically - so while at the school, he's allowed to roam with relative freedom, though always has an ear at the ready to hear his trainer's whistle. Blaine's Personality:
Mellow, Patient, Calm, Easy-going, Subtly Dominant, Firm, Fair, Friendly, Interactive
Blaine is one of those rare guys that is easy-going without being so easy-going that he just lets people walk all over him. No, if there is a set goal he has in his mind, he can be quite tenacious - and yet he still manages to not go too over the top with that tenacity. He's patient, and kind, and though he does perhaps have a bit of a temper it's really difficult to rouse it enough for Blaine to actually show it. Most of the time he's more subject to faint irritation than any true signs of anger, and he's incredibly quick to forgive. His teaching style is relatively hands-on, his personal experience as an entertainer having taught him that such a way is really what's best, and he tends to be very interactive with his students as well. He's friendly, at ease in virtually all social situations, and has a way of drawing people into conversation with him even if they might not be entirely willing to do so. He's also honest to a fault, though he's tactful about it.

Life Before the Academy:
Prior to coming to the academy, Blaine lived out his days as a gypsy - the life of an entertainer making it necessary to almost constantly being on the go. Nowhere was settled for long, but he was blessed with family and plenty of it so despite not being settled anywhere for long, one could hardly say that his existence was a lonely one. In some way or another, he'd always been involved in the family business - whether it had been as a baby and being brought out into the arena while his mother put on her portion of their act, or whether it was learning the proper care of the pokemon that performed. The moment he could walk on his own, he was put in charge of just one of these such pokemon - an impish vulpix that he named Loki after the old Norse God of Mischief - and proved to be not only an adept trainer, but an extremely gifted one as well. He had a way with the pokemon, anticipating their needs often before such needs were made obvious - almost as though he could read their minds.
Of course, it wasn't really reading their minds...more like reading their emotions, and Glenna decided to foster that talent. By the time Blaine was ten, he was an active part of the show - and had already acquired his second and third pokemon, Veles and Pele having been 'rescued' (ie: forcibly taken) from a fellow trainer that was failing to properly do his duty by them. At least that was the way Blaine saw it. This year was also one of unexpected difficulty as the Carlisle family lost Elliot at the hands of a newly caught Hydreigon belonging to a trainer outside of their own family. He'd been trying to assist the trainer in finding a way to come to terms with the particularly wild pokemon when the thing lashed out and attacked him. Elliot's wounds proved fatal in the end, and the Carlisle children found themselves suddenly without a father.
Life, of course, had to go on. Certainly Elliot wouldn't have wanted it to stop, and they all were well aware of how the man had felt about senseless years spent on mourning, but his absence did leave an ache in all of their hearts. And left Blaine in the position of being the 'man of the house' - a position that he took quite seriously. At any rate, years would pass and Blaine would increase the count of his team, collecting several more pokemon on the way, and even eventually going on to purchase his very own trailer rather than coexisting with his mother and older sister Ashlynn. And the show went on.
Academy, Ho!
Blaine didn't start to feel that he might like to settle somewhere more permanently until the age of 23. Now, it wasn't the sort of urge that made him immediately give up the way his life was going, but it certainly was enough to make him think. And think on it he would, all the way up until the day came that he would receive an actual opportunity to do so. It happened when he was just about to turn 24, three days before his birthday to be precise. This particular show had been more than usually gruelling, the acts performed intense on both trainer and pokemon...and it didn't help that this show ran a bit longer than most - going on for a few weeks rather than just a few days. But still, Blaine's pokemon performed their job expertly, and Blaine kept everything together - a thing that was notice by one perhaps not so unusual audience member in the form of an older man that went by the name of Malcolm Tierney.
Malcolm, it would turn out, was a professor - a professor near enough to retiring age to start thinking about who would replace him. After all, he couldn't just give his job to anyone. No, his job required a person with a certain personality...and after attending Blaine's show for about three nights in a row, he had a hunch that perhaps this young man was just what he was looking for. Still, he'd have to meet with him of course - a thing that he sound found himself doing right before he left town to head back to the school. Blaine was not one that was used to meeting with 'fans' after a show, but he certainly didn't turn the fellow's offer of a meal down, and found himself in the presence of a rather pleasant conversationalist for a little over two hours. They parted ways as friends, Malcolm choosing to maintain absent-minded telephone contact with the young entertainer throughout the next year, and Blaine thought little of this.
Well, little - that is - until the letter arrived. It was in a simple envelope...nothing official about it, and since Blaine didn't believe it was anything worthy of his immediate attention, he simply set it aside and went about his daily life. Only a full month later did he think that maybe he should open the silly thing, and when he did - it's contents were surprising to say the least. Now, of course, Blaine hardly expected such an offer to still be standing...but he did telephone his friend just in case, deciding that if it was - he would accept and put all his /thinking/ about settling aside and simply /do/ it. Much to his surprise, the professor still wanted very much to meet with him to discuss the position, and in the end...Blaine did just as he told himself he was going to do. He took the position, and within a matter of weeks, he and his team were promptly moved into the school...and he plans on just staying put, his roaming self ready to put down a few roots.
