He kept himself apart from those sharing the ride with him to the academy, lashes lowered nearly to the point of his eyes being shut. He knew he gave off that vibe that something wasn't quite right with him, and that the other soon to be students should keep away. Honestly, that suited him, what used did he have for these kids anyway? Maybe it wasn't even because of him entirely, maybe it also had something to do with is companion. Zyane's hand was closed lightly around another's, the tattered looking plushie seated beside him. If there was any hope of others thinking that perhaps this was not an actual Banette, that maybe the boy just had a serious problem with growing up, and it was only a toy made to resemble a Banette (who would ever want one of those anyway? ), that was killed by the fact that red button eyes shifted to consider the others around them. It was further made clear that this was, in fact the ghost pokèmon currently completely corporeal, as it made a point to turn its gaze to the human that belonged to him, looking up at the boy silently.
Zayne hardly needed to return the gaze to feel it. He was so used to feeling the eyes of ghost pokèmon, especially the one seated beside him, that it hardly needed acknowledging. Settling back in his seat with a sigh, the boy felt no particular longing for home, though his fingers did absently brush against the other pokèball he had situated in a belt holster. The Mr. Mime, Creeper, an name aptly chosen by one of his older siblings, had chosen to come with him. Technically the pokèmon had belonged to his father, but it wasn't like his parents really noticed anything anymore... If only Flicker, the Litwick he hadn't been able to bring along with him could evolve to his final form. Then he would be powerful enough to burn up what remained of their souls and they could die that much more quickly. But that, of course, was a matter for another time and other considerations.
He had debated leaving Creeper behind, certainly he would have preferred Litwick's company, but something in him had decided to bring him along. Why? He had always been uneasy about the affections of this pokèmon when he was a young child. Still, Creeper had always been a persistent pokèmon, and perhaps Zayne was just that used to submitting to that persistence. At least he could be confident the pokèmon would mind his commands as a trainer, after all, if he did cross that very important line, Zayne could go about transferring him out and bringing Flicker back to him instead... If only the school had a allowed for a few more pokèmon outright, he would have preferred to bring Flicker. Well... he was a ghost, it wasn't like any of the various warm bodies that passed in and out of his home could do him any harm... .He'd just have to work hard and earn the right to bring him over to the school.

TRAINER GIFT/TALENT -Ethereal Susceptibility:
Zayne is both sensitive to, and attracts the powers of ghost type pokèmon. His sensitivity has allowed him to both sense and see ghosts even when they are completely incorporeal, and his susceptibility attracting said pokèmon has ensured that there were usually plenty to notice. Those ghosts that feed off of the life force, emotions or souls of humans get an extra boost from Zayne, while he, in turn seems completely unaware, or perhaps excepting of the fact that he is often fed off of by them.

BRIEF HISTORY -***not sure what needs to be purchased, but will leave some space for that, and alter as needed ***
The youngest of three, three kids that likely would have done better not to have been born in the first place, Zayne was never really what anyone would have described as a happy child. Home life had already been disintegrating long before he'd been born, and his early childhood often saw the repeating montage of parents falling deeper into stupor and addiction, siblings running wild and exhibiting all the poor judgement and aggression that came with such a life, and odd people he didn't know making their way in and out of whatever room they pleased in his 'home'.
The presence of the ghosts, being able to see them especially, had certainly not helped. His professions of having 'seen something' in whatever location of the house were quickly stopped when they were met with violence, or perhaps worse when someone had seemed to believe him, but then seemed to react in ways that were frightening to him, especially when there was just too much terror, when the reactions were harmful to the one he had spoken too. No, he quickly learned that these matters were not to be discussed.
There was little comfort to be had for Zayne, his father's Mr. Mime 'Creeper', as named by his older brother, was exceptionally fond of him. However, that affection and the attentions of that pokèmon often made him uneasy as a child, and his persistence often upset Zayne. That did change however, when he was six. After he had faced a confusing day of rejection from his classmates at primary school (just how was he 'weird' anyway?), he wasn't particularly eager to get back home. Why hurry to get home to parents that wouldn't ask him how his day was, even if they weren't passed out naked and drooling on the couch (if they had managed to land and stay there even ), siblings that might feel a desire to take their frustrations out on him, or strange people and a pokèmon that did things that made him feel uneasy, or upset. So, he satisfied himself with lingering in a dark alley where he could be as alone as he could hope to be. He'd nearly been startled into running when he'd heard something so close. It wasn't normal for him to be snuck up on, especially since he usually felt the ghost pokèmon when they were hanging around. However, he had spotted the moving form before he could run, and curiosity drew him in further.
A Banette would have frightened most children, by its sheer look alone. Of course Zayne was fairly used to frightening things by now, they hardly bothered him, and seemed more normal than the various pretty, and sweet looking pokèmon a child his age might be enthralled with. As it was the Banette had its own designs on this boy. He meant to claim him as his own, and that was all there was to the matter. Sterben, as an odd impluse so informed him that the pokèmon's name should be... or possibly already was, was not exactly a kind 'friend'. There were plenty of times that he did hurtful things, both physically and emotionally to Zayne, but the Pokèmon did offer comfort as well. He could hold his friend while he slept at night and Sterben often protected him. When the presence of other ghost pokèmon became too much for him, the Banette would drive them away, and there had been plenty of times the pokèmon had used its abilities to hide Zayne when it was best that the boy not be seen or found.
As Zayne grew older Sterben became less satisfied with hiding himself, less pleased to become incorporeal every time there were those who should not see him were present. Eventually the pokèmon decisively remained solid and visible to all the world as he accompanied Zayne every where he went. This became instantly alarming to his teachers (in regular school). Zayne had become skilled at hiding his acknowledgement of ghost pokèmon, the persistent presence of the Banette became their first and jarring clue that Zayne seemed to draw in ghost pokèmon. It would have been prudent of caring attentive parents to enroll him in a place designed to shelter and protect those children that like himself drew in such pokèmon at far too early of an age. Caring and attentive were the key words though. Eventually it was a teacher that began looking into Pokèmon academies that might take Zayne in, as he was likely beyond the help of sheltering, the best for him would be to learn how to manage such pokèmon, especially the ones that tended towards malice.... As if he wasn't completely content with Sterben as his permanent and most treasured companion.
Eventually he found himself here, with Sterben and Creeper, who had decided he was meant to come along, and quite without a few of his other permanent ghostly companions. He understood though that many academies allowed students to earn bringing in or capturing more pokèmon, so maybe the separation didn't have to be permanent. He immediately set to establishing himself in this new place, he was small and that had become far more noticeable as peers began to tower over him far more obviously. Size, however wasn't his means of intimidation. One day he made the wonderful mistake of crossing paths with Eloise an established student who had no problem 'explaining the way of things' to him. Being physically attacked by a Primeape was frightening in some ways, but he had only lowered his lashes as he laid strewn on the ground with the hulking mass of angry fighter type over him. Unfortunately Sterben wasn't handy at the moment, and Creeper was in a pokèball that he couldn't exactly get hold of.
Maybe she had heard about him, perhaps it was solely because of his reactions as he was put in his place, or it was possible that Eloise might have just seen something in him. Regardless, the encounter, violent though it was, lead to Zayne being brought into the academy's 'Queen Bee's' cliche and excepted as one in her most inner circle. He is, more or less, her faithful hound, and will do her bidding without question or conscious. There, however, is more too it than that on his side at least. She has seemed to accept and appreciate him for what he is, even those things he kept mostly hidden, and showed an ability to be more real with him than she was with the rest of her 'friends'. Truthfully, those things she hid or the others downplayed in their minds about her, he found enthralling. As he formed a strange sort of attachment to this girl, he has even given her a very special gift, a young ghost type of her very own to raise.

- Sterben:
Sterben is incredibly possessive, even though he allows some ghost types to leech off of -his- Zayne, and accepts a few of them as permanent companions to the pair of them, there is no doubt to any pokèmon that Zayne belongs to Sterben. He is obedient in battle, and even outside of it to his human, but that matter of who holds the power fluctuates depending on the matter being decided. Malicious and manipulative he has fostered a dependency in Zayne for him since he was very young, ensuring that he would stay close to the boy for the various reasons he desired to do so. This doesn't mean Sterben is without warmer feelings, he does demonstrate genuine caring for Zayne, even aside from protecting him, and being agreeable to submit to the boy's will in some matters, Sterben genuinely seems to enjoy cuddling or otherwise being in contact with his trainer, though this is typically done in private and even when in public in a harmless sort of way. - Creeper:
Creeper, similar to Sterben is obedient in most cases. However there is a more domineering side to this pokèmon as well. Zayne has become compliant and reactionally submissive to him over the years in some regards to their interactions, and he is not above exploiting that even now that Zayne is a young man and officially his trainer. Like Sterben he demonstrates a propensity towards physical contact, though unlike the Banette, such touches often serve the dual purpose of imposing dominance over his trainer, or to prompt him towards certain thoughts or behaviors. He does, however, deffer to Sterben and not just because of the other's type, both recognizing the other's firm claim on the boy, and the fact that Sterben is the pokèmon that has most capture their human's affection.
APPEARANCE DESCRIPTION -
- Sterben:
Height: 3' 2"
Weight:24 lbs
Just a bit smaller than average, Sterben has the typical raggedy, patched twisted plushie toy appearance of a Banette, that is mostly a black and appears to darken as he moves out of his coporeal form (as ghost pokèmon tend to do to go through walls and such) . His button eyes are a shiny red that give the appearance of holding a slight glow to them, like his body at large, there is some change as he becomes more incorporeal as they do, in fact start to glow when he is moving between states. His zipper mouth is a golden hue, and he tends to keep his extra pins in a pouch at the base of his tail, where they are easily reached by long arms, and surprisingly dexterous plump fingers. - Creeper
Height: 4'6"
Weight: 135 lbs
A bit larger than the average Mr. Mime, Creepers skin is hairless and wrinkled. This humanoid pokèmon, similarly, has a fleshy pink coloring that leans a bit more heavily towards the pink side of things. Odd red nodules adorn the tips of his fingers and similar structures are located in different areas of the body. Some might speculate these serve the dual purpose of taking over the traction provided by human finger prints, and serve as an avenue to help the psychic abilities of the pokèmon to better channel to it's hands.
